H-E-B unveils new limited-edition Selena reusable bag
Selena's sister helped with unveiling new product
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - H-E-B unveiled its latest product to the delight of late Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla's fans everywhere.The grocery chain announced on social media
that it partnered with the Selena Foundation to bring customers a
limited-edition reusable bag.
On Friday at 9 a.m., H-E-B will start selling limited edition,
reusable tote bags featuring the Queen of Cumbia for $2 at select
locations across Texas and online.Suzette Quintanilla, the beloved singer's sister, worked
with the grocer to create the totes which are made entirely of
recyclable material, according to a news release.
One side of the bag features a black-and-white photo of
Selena singing, the other side has another iconic photo of the Texas
legend adorned with the words "Queen of Cumbia" in bold, pink lettering.
Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s sister, helped with the unveiling of the new product in a video posted on social media.
An H-E-B employee in the video said it took four years to get the bag on the market.
“We finally came up with something to be
able to give back to Selena’s fans, but to also benefit Selena’s
foundation,” Suzette Quintanilla said in the video, which now
has thousands of views on Facebook.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Selena Foundation to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Bend.
"Working with H-E-B to create this bag was a highlight for me,"
Quintanilla said. "This bag will help The Selena Foundation give back to
our community and gives Selena's fans something to tote around."
"At H-E-B, we're excited to offer our customers this
commemorative Selena bag, which is a tribute to such a beloved
personality whose music continues to inspire people everywhere," Cory
Basso, H-E-B Group Vice President of Marketing and Advertising, said in
the release.
The partnership between the Selena Foundation and H-E-B includes a
$25,000 donation to the non-profit organization which will be dedicated
to the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Bend, the release said.
H-E-B's will also sponsor the fireworks finale at the Fiesta de la
Flor Festival, an event honoring in Selena in Corpus Christi on April
13-14.
Customers can buy the bags in person, online starting at noon or through H-E-B curbside delivery. Limit two bags per person.
